Brockman Elementary Library Mission Statement
The Brockman Elementary Library exists to serve our school community. As a part of a Montessori environment and in support of the overall school mission and vision, the library program aims to create a child-centered environment that allows the freedom to explore and provides the resources and materials that enable students to be members of a vibrant learning community. The library provides space, resources, and tools that allow students to pursue their interests both individually and collaboratively. The library operates on a semi-flexible schedule in order to be available to students at their point of need. The library program seeks to promote a love of reading, equip students with the skills they need to be critical consumers of information and encourage the development of lifelong learners.

Hi! I am Ms. Blalock, your school librarian. While I am fairly new to the library, I am not new to Brockman. I was a Lower Elementary teacher here for thirteen years before completing my MLIS from USC and becoming a librarian. I began my career in education as an elementary Spanish teacher. Later, I taught traditional second grade before completing my Montessori certification and becoming a Montessori teacher. A few years ago, I made the switch to librarian and absolutely love being able share my love of reading and books with all of the students at Brockman!
I have a teenage daughter who attended Brockman, as well as the Montessori middle school program. I have an amazing fiance, who also has two children. We recently adopted a German Shepherd dog, Nelly. In my free time, I like to watch movies, go to restaurants, go to the gym, train my dog, and of course, read!
